What Programmes Are Available?

I chose this degree course mainly because I want to pursue a career in cybersecurity. I had offers from a few other universities but the staff and the quality of learning I would get by having the smaller group sizes at Lincoln College appealed more to me. Since I knew all the tutors beforehand it made the transition from Level 3 to BSc a lot easier to overcome.
I think the small class sizes alongside the friendly tutors enable for a very enjoyable learning environment which I believe is the most enjoyable aspect of the course.
Don’t be afraid to ask questions as they will become your best friend and time management will become crucial so keep a journal or something to plan your time.
When I first started doing the Level 3 Extended Diploma in photography, I never really had any intentions of doing any further courses. It was after speaking to the tutors I then decided to further my studies.
The course offers so much, the chance to be able to learn new skills and extended the ones you have as well as develop your own style/ area you want to go into with the support of the tutors.
If I’m honest, I loved every second even the times I felt like launching my textbooks out the window! I enjoyed the trips and being able to see new things and learn about the history of photography, read new books and being able to delve into different photographers’ work. I used to love studio days, it was a chance to develop/perfect skills and learn new techniques with the support of your tutor and the rest of the class, it became such a fun lesson, and everyone worked as a team and bounced ideas around to get the perfect final photo.
Everything I learned throughout the lessons gave me what I needed to create my final photos for the last brief of uni. I can also say after I graduated, I went on to be a self-employed photographer.
I had always wanted to be a violin maker from the age of 13. I asked the maker who I bought my viola from at age 13 what I had to do to become one and he told me that it was “no job for a young lady”! I then continued to get a music degree and went on to have a family because at the time I didn’t think to question him or that he might be wrong. It wasn’t until my husband was passing Newark College one day and picked up the paperwork that I applied. The rest is history!
I instantly felt that the other people who were on the course were just like me. It takes a certain sort of person to study lutherie I think! The tutors were all fantastic and I loved working with wood.
Go for it. Put in the hours, learn as much as you can from the tutors and your fellow students and make as many connections as you can.
Newark School of Violin Making is a jewel nestled away in the UK’s education system. Its reputation is world renowned and due to the passionate staff and wonderful teaching it must be preserved. I had a wonderful time and I hope it will always be there for subsequent generations of makers and restorers.

The Institutes of Technology (IoT) have been formed across England to enhance the career and employment chances of young people and adults.
The programmes that have been created at the institutes have been designed in collaboration with employers, colleges, and universities to ensure students are work-ready and to offer clear career progression.
At Lincolnshire Institute of Technology, our aim is to develop the talent and skills to drive exciting new age industries and play a role in enabling a dynamic, technology-driven economy. We have a range of Level 4, 5 and 6 courses covering four IoT pathways - Automotive Electric/Hybrid, Digital Technologies, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and Construction and Civil Engineering.

Our full-time course fees for Home students are between £8,000 and £9,250 per academic year. This compares favourably with the amount charged by other universities.
Part-time students are charged a proportion of the full-time fee according to how much they are studying.

For Career Degree Students
Loans from the government are available for full-time students to assist with their living expenses. These are repayable after students graduate or leave their course and earn over a minimum salary. There’s lots more information on Student Finance on the UCAS website or the Government website.
In addition to the above, certain students may be eligible for additional financial support from us. Including, but not limited to: Hardship Funds, Disabled Student Allowance (DSA), Career Degree Bursaries, Lincoln College Returner Incentive, Access Scholarships and APP Enhanced Bursaries.

We work closely with our degree provision to ensure students are equipped with the skills they need for further study.

We offer a range of Higher Education qualifications at various levels. View the explanations to find out more about the different qualification types you can study.
Access programmes are established nationally as an alternative to A Level entry to degree and diploma programmes. They provide entry to a degree or diploma with no previous qualifications and provide grounding in the skills and knowledge necessary to successfully progress to a higher education course. We offer various ‘pathways’ that allow entry onto specific degree courses.

An HNC is ideal for anyone who wants an introduction to their chosen subject. Most students who choose to study for an HNC do so part-time over two years while they continue to work. There is the option to do additional modules to progress to an HND, and from there to top up to a full Bachelor's Degree.
HNDs are available in a wide range of subjects – mainly vocational. HNC/HNDs are well known by employers so this can increase employability. Entry requirements are generally lower than those needed for degrees. A full-time HND will likely take two years but longer if it includes an industrial placement. There is the option to top-up to a full degree with further study, either at Lincoln College University Centre or an alternative institutions.
The College offers several qualifications accredited by professional organisations, such as the ILM and AAT. These qualifications are designed with the needs of the profession in mind, and are often the only route into a given profession.

These two-year degree courses are a cheaper and faster alternative to traditional three-year undergraduate courses. They combine the level of learning offered by a degree programme, with practical, commercial experience. Foundation degrees are particularly popular with employers for a number of reasons: they enhance the knowledge and skills of existing employees; increase productivity and competitiveness; change the skill set of existing employees; develop employees within the business and train new employees to learn their job quicker.
Foundation degrees normally take two years if studied full-time and are a valuable qualification in their own right. They can also be a stepping stone to undergraduate degrees and other studies. Foundation Degrees are awarded in Art (FdA) or Science (FdSc).
HTQs are technical qualifications that have been developed by employers and awarding bodies, so you’ll get the right training, knowledge, and skills to succeed in the workplace.
They are based on the same set of standards as apprenticeships and T Levels and have been approved by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education as meeting the occupational standards for the relevant sector.
There are many different types of HTQs, such as:
higher national diplomas
higher national certificates
foundation degrees
higher education diplomas
Not all diplomas, certificates and foundation degrees are approved HTQs. Look out for the HTQ logo or banner which will always show on approved qualifications.
The title of undergraduate degrees varies depending on the subject studied, from a BA (Bachelor of Arts) to a BSc (Bachelor of Science). Following completion of a first degree, some people progress to a postgraduate degree, either taught for example an MA (Master of Arts) or a research programme, often called a doctorate, and awarded with a PhD or Doctor of Philosophy.
