Apprenticeships
Are you hardworking and motivated? Prefer learning on the job? Do you want to combine learning whilst getting paid? An apprenticeship might be for you!
What is an Apprenticeship?
Apprenticeships combine working in a job you enjoy while also attending a college course, usually on a day release basis, giving you the best of both worlds. You gain industry recognised qualifications and get an opportunity to start your career. The really good bit is you get paid whilst you are training, helping you become independent.
Who is it for?
There are no age restrictions! Apprenticeships are open to all age groups (above 16yrs) whether you are just leaving school, have been working for years or are seeking to start a new career.
How would it work for me?
You need to find an employer who is willing to release you to college. We can put you in touch with local companies who currently have vacancies, but you should contact other companies yourself to generate your own placement as competition for places is high.
If you don’t know how to start job hunting we can offer you free one to one advice – simply contact us for more details. Alternatively you may already have a Saturday job which can be developed into an Apprenticeship and you can continue doing what you enjoy
What grades do I need?
Ideally you need GCSE Grade A* – D in your English and Maths or equivalent. REMEMBER – it is not just about academic qualifications, take into account your personality, your strengths and weaknesses and that you are ready for the demands of work. We want you to be a success, so if you get to know your strengths you can have more confidence in the choices you make.

What is an assessment day?
It gives you the chance to see the college, tutors and learning environment before you have to make a decision of whether or not Apprenticeships are for you. You can see what courses and qualifications are available, find out about the support on offer and discover what Apprenticeships can lead to. This will mean that you have a more thorough understanding of your chosen industry and know what to expect in the future.
