Course description

The AAT Education and Training Scheme offers 3 levels of study:  Level 2 Certificate in Accounting, Level 3 Diploma in Accounting and Level 4 Diploma in Accounting.  Students can commence study at the Certificate level with no previous accounting experience.  Students must register with the AAT to be eligible to sit the examinations.

This programme is also available as an Apprenticeship giving young people aged 16 and over the opportunity to combine the experience of working, with the added benefit of college attendance on a day release (or evening) basis.

  • Accounting Levels 1 & 2 (Double Entry Accounting up to and including Trial Balance)
  • Working Effectively in Finance

  • Computerised Accounts 

Entry requirements

Students should possess good numeracy and literacy skills before starting the qualification. 5 GCSEs at grade C or above which must include Maths and English.

This course is available on a full time or part time basis.  Attendance is as follows:

Full Time:  3 days per week (Fast Track).  Successful completion of the Level 2 Certificate in Accounting is required to progress to the Level 3 Diploma in Accounting in the second semester.

Part Time:  1 day per week or 2 evenings per week

Progress & Assessment

The majority of units are assessed by AAT computer based tests which are taken as students progress through the course.  Other units are assessed via computer based projects.

Progression between levels is dependent on successful completion of exams at the first sitting, good attendance and a professional approach to studies.

Students aged 16-18

This course is funded by government for those aged 16-18 and is therefore free.

The cost of this course is £848.00. This course is subsidised by the government.  You may be entitled to a discount for this course dependent upon your circumstances
