Course Description
The AAT Education and Training Scheme offers 3 levels of study: Level 2 Certificate in Accounting, Level 3 Diploma in Accounting and Level 4 Diploma in Accounting. Students can commence study at the Certificate level with no previous accounting experience. Students must register with the AAT to be eligible to sit the examinations.
This programme is also available as an Apprenticeship giving young people aged 16 and over the opportunity to combine the experience of working, with the added benefit of college attendance on a day release (or evening) basis.

- Accounting Levels 1 & 2 (Double Entry Accounting up to and including Trial Balance)
- Working Effectively in Finance
- Basic Costing
- Computerised Accounts
Entry Requirements
Students should possess good numeracy and literacy skills before starting the qualification. GCSE Maths and English at Grade C are desirable.
Progression & Assessment
The majority of units are assessed by AAT computer based tests which are taken as students progress throught the course. Other units are assessed via computer based projects.
Successful completion of the Level 2 Certificate in Accounting enables automatic entry to the Level 3 Diploma in Accounting.
Duration & Location
This is a one year part time course.
However, if undertaken on the fast-track programme at Lincoln and Newark Colleges, the duration is 15 weeks.

Day Release
Wednesday - 9.00 am - 4.00 pm - starting September 2012
Evening
Tuesdays & Wednesdays 6.00 - 9.00pm - starting September 2012.
Mode of attendance: Newark
Fast track
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday - 9.00 am - 3.00pm - starting September 2012.
Day Release
Tuesdays - 9.00 am - 4.00 pm - starting September 2012.
Evening
Tuesday and Wednesdays 6.00 - 9.00pm - starting September 2012.
Fees
The course fees for 2012/13 are to be advised.
Fees include tuition, exam and assignment costs, text books and AAT enrolment.
All students who do not achieve a pass at the first sitting and need to take a re-sit will be responsible for re-sit fees. These must be paid to Lincoln College before the student can be entered for the assessment: Level 2 - approximately £30 per assessment.
Fees quoted apply only to European Union Nationals and are subject to review at any time.
