Course Description

Course Description: 

This highly practical route into the Motor Industry is ideally suited to people who prefer vocational training; however academic study is also required. Apprenticeships provide the opportunity of working towards nationally recognised qualifications covering the whole training programme.

Apprenticeship

Apprenticeship (A) comprises an induction, including Employment Rights & Responsibilities, a level 2 Technical Certificate (VRQ), a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) at level 2 and 3 Key Skills at Level 1.

It is available to students working in:

  • Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
  • Vehicle Body and Paint Operations
  • Vehicle Fitting
     

Advanced Apprenticeship

Advanced Apprenticeship (AA) comprises an induction, including ERR, a level 3 Technical Certificate, an NVQ at level 3 and 3 Key Skills at levels 1 & 2.

It is available to students working in:

  • Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
  • Vehicle Body and Paint Operations
  • Vehicle Fitting

Entry Requirements

Entry Requirements: 

For an Apprenticeship, GCSE Grades D-F (Maths, English & Science)
For an Advanced Apprenticeship, GCSE Grades A-C (Maths, English & Science)

The selection procedure can also include an interview, receiving a satisfactory reference and successful completion of an initial aptitude test.

Progression & Assessment

Assessment and Progression: 

Continual assessment of portfolio development (Vocational, incorporating Key Skills (Communications, Application of Number, I.T.), phased testing of underpinning knowledge and externally set and marked Key Skills, where appropriate.

Technical Certificate: Derived from City & Guilds 4101 series (see separate course information)

Depending on the age of the candidate, course fees would normally be covered by a training agent.
