APPRENTICESHIP IN INSTALLING ELECTRONIC SECURITY SYSTEMS

The programme is aimed at candidates who are currently Installing Electronic Security Systems or anyone who has been offered an Apprenticeship with a Security System Installation Company.

Duration: runs over a period of 2 years, during this period there will be a mandatory day release to college.

Course description

The Apprenticeship offers National Qualifications that are recognised in the Security Installation Industry by leading trade organisations.

Programme Content:
a) The City & Guilds 2882 Level 2 Certificate in Providing Electronic Security and Emergency Systems.
b) The City & Guilds 1853 Level 2 Certificate in Knowledge of Electronic Security and Emergency Systems.
c) Functional Skills at Level 2 in English and Level 1 in Maths and ICT.
 

Entry requirements

1. All candidates must successfully complete a College pre-programme entry assessment, this includes an Aptitude Test, tests in Maths and English, plus a practical skills test.
2. Hold or be predicting GCSE Grades ‘A* to ‘D’ in English Language and Maths.
 

Progress & Assessment

The College will offer a choice of Qualification pathways from the City and Guilds syllabus. Apprentices will be required to complete a set of units which will be a combination of knowledge assessed in College by examination and written assignments and practical skills which will be assessed in the work place and the College Assessment Centre.

Progression:
Successful completion of the Apprenticeship Programme will provide the qualifications required to work in the Security Systems Installation Industry with the possibility to progress to an Advanced Apprenticeship Programme.
 

Fees

Fees for the 2013/14 academic year are currently under review. Figures given below are indicative only and subject to change. Fees will be posted here as soon as they become available.

There are no fees for an Apprentice aged 16, 17 or 18 at the start of the programme.

Employers of Apprentices aged 19 plus at the start of the programme may be required pay annual course fees (Amount to be notified on request).

NOTE: There is currently no upper age limit for joining a recognised Apprenticeship Programme.
