Course description

This course is designed for those wishing to improve their knowledge and understanding of bookkeeping.

Content

The completion of financial documents such as:

  • Invoices and Credit notes.
  • The recording of cash and credit transactions in books of original entry.
  • Preparing bank reconciliations.
  • Understanding the petty cash imprest system and trial balances

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, but candidates should have good numeracy and literacy skills.

Progress & Assessment

Students' work is assessed via a one and a half hour exam, marked by the awarding body, City & Guilds. Successful completion of the course leads to the award of a C & G Award in Bookkeeping & Accounts Level 1.

Progression

On successful completion of the Level 1 course, students can progress onto the Level 2 Bookkeeping & Accounts course.
