Course Description
This programme provides a general introduction to the health and social care services. It prepares students for progression to a further programme of study and for employment in the care sector. It also provides the underpinning knowledge for NVQ Level 2 in care.

BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Care adopts a student centred approach to study, whereby students learn to take charge of their own studying, to work both in groups and on their own and to develop a wide range of skills which will equip them for work in the caring professions. Work placement is an essential part of this programme and students will have the opportunity to work with different client groups.
Entry Requirements
Four academic GCSEs at Grade D or above, one must be English Language. Genuine interest in working with others. Satisfactory school report if applicable. Character reference required for mature students. Plus successful interview and a clear CRB check.
Progression & Assessment
Assessment takes the form of: Continuous assessment throughout the programme and the production of a Portfolio of Evidence. A Grade of PASS, MERIT, or DISTINCTION will be awarded for each unit achieved.
Functional Skills: these will be studies alongside the main programme.
Progression Achievement of BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care with units at Distinction level equips students for application to a range of more demanding programmes, which include Advanced Level and BTEC Level 3 Care programme. Also students could apply for a wide variety of jobs in health and social care establishments in the public, private and voluntary sectors.
