Course Description
The Edexcel BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Construction is a qualification that focuses on the development of underpinning knowledge in construction. It is designed for learners in full time education at Lincoln College. The qualification provides much of the underpinning knowledge required for industry recognized qualifications. Units are sign-posted to National Occupational Standards for this purpose. The units are designed to develop underpinning knowledge and to support, alongside re-taking 3 GCSE’s in Math’s, English and Physics to enable progression to further full time courses at Lincoln College and provide further underpinning GCE qualifications for University requirements.

Entry Requirements
Entry Requirements:
At least a GCSE grade D in Maths, one English and one Science subject. Potential students need to complete a literacy and numeracy and a trade test. Offers of a course place will be made to successful applicants following the tests and interview. Any offer of a place will be conditional on the production of documentary evidence of GCSE grades or equivalent before the course commences.
Progression & Assessment
Each unit is graded separately and form part of the overall Grading of THE qualification at P/M/D/D* .The college is committed to maintaining Records of Achievement and providing appropriate feedback through action planning.
Learners can progress from the Level 2 Diploma in Construction to Level 3 BTEC qualifications including BTEC Diplomas in Construction and to specific GCSEs and Applied GCSEs. Or onto trade qualifications
Duration & Location
This is a full time course and consists of 3 mandatory units plus 3 optional units that provide for a combined total of 60 credits and 360 guided learning hours (GLH) for the completed qualification. Plus an additional 90 GLH for each GCSE required. Giving an attendance of 18 hrs per week.
Fees
If you are under 19 on 31st August when your programme begins and study more than 12½ hours per week, you will be entitled to free tuition and no examination fees wherever you live provided you are a European Community National. Mature students may also qualify for free tuition under certain circumstances; please ask our Guidance Services for details.
