Course Description
Programme Aim
The programme has been developed for those who are intending to follow a career in mechanical, manufacturing or motor sports engineering and wish to follow an alternative route to that of A Levels and sixth form. Although the programme is vocationally orientated towards engineering, it will not prevent anyone from selecting other career routes at a later stage. The programme is largely academic but it contains significant practical elements. The Level 3 Extended National Diploma is worth 180 QCF credits.
Programme Content:
The programme consists of associated subjects, or units, all of the same duration. A total of 17 units are required to gain the Diploma. During the course, a range of subjects are covered that introduce many aspects of mechanical, manufacturing or motor sport technology. These are complemented with other subjects to provide a sound basis for the needs of a mechanical or manufacturing or motor sport engineer. Functional Skills in Application of Number, Communications and Information Technology are also an integral part of the course.
