Course description

The course provides knowledge of medical terminology, medical abbreviations, classification of drugs and prescription abbreviations.  It will be useful to those working, or interested in working, in the medical environment.

The course will cover:

  • The structure and meaning of medical terms
  • The meaning of medical terms relating to the body systems
  • The meaning of medical terms for the different medical specialties
  • The meaning of abbreviations concerning drugs and prescriptions.

Students should equip themselves with a ring binder and a medical dictionary.

Regular homework is included.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements.

Progress & Assessment

At the end of the course, there will be a 1.5 hour exam based on the knowledge acquired on the course (to be confirmed).

There is no direct progression, but a variety of business and administrative courses are available.
