Course Description
With effect from September 2010, the couse name will change to Certificate in Human Resource Practice (CHRP)
To enable candidates from a wide variety of backgrounds including line managers, secretarial assistants, clerical staff etc, to acquire a wide range of relevant practical personnel skills with which to become more efficient with their jobs.
Content
The modules covered are:
- Developing yourself as an effective HR practitioner
- Understanding organisations and the role of HR
- Recording, analysing and using HR information
- Resourcing talent
- Supporting good practice in managing employment relations
- Delivering learning and development activities
Entry Requirements
This is an open access course. It is expected that students have an interest in developing a career in personnel. All students accepted for the course are required to become student members of the CIPD.
Progression & Assessment
Assessment
There will be written assignments and skills based assignments throughout the course. Assessment is entirely through coursework.
Progression
The CIPD's Certificate in Human Resource Practice is a valuable end in itself for those people who wish to enter personnel management at an operational level.
Successful completion will entitle you to be an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
It can also be recognised as an entry qualification to the professional courses of the CIPD. Progression to the Professional Development Scheme must also be supported by tutor recommendation. The College provides access to the MSc in HRM/D which is run by University of Lincoln. This also gives Grad. CIPD status
Duration & Location
The course runs from September until June. Students attend the College one day a week, either Tuesday 9.00 am - 1.30 pm, or Wednesday 1.00 - 5.30 pm.

Fees
Course fees for 2010 are to be advised. The fees will include an 'away day', but excludes CIPD membership fees of £161 which will need to be paid directly to the CIPD.
Fees quoted apply only to European Union Nationals and are also subject to review at any time.
