Course Description
This professional qualification has been developed specifically for IT Professionals. It is nationally recognised and ideal if you want a career as an IT Systems Support Technician.
The Level 2 Diploma for IT Professionals will include units dealing with:
- Maintaining Equipment and Systems
- Customer Support Provision
- Install and Configure ICT Equipment and Operating Systems
- Install, Configure and Maintain Software
- ICT Systems Monitering and Operation
- Install, Configure and Test ICT Networks
An important element of this programme is the tutorial programme which offers support and guidance to students throughout their study.
Students will also undertake functional skills in Maths and/or English.
Entry Requirements
Qualifications equivalent to four GCSEs at Grade E or above. IT user qualification and knowledge of computer hardware and Microsoft operating systems including MSDOS, would be an advantage. A serious interest in a career in the IT industry
All applications will lead to a formal interview where all interviewees will need to provide evidence of previous IT knowledge and skills in the form of a portfolio which will include CV, Qualifications and evidence of work using IT. Interviews will also need to complete multiple choice questionnaire and a practical task.
Students will be expected to successfully pass an assignment in the first four weeks of term in order to continue on the course.
Progression & Assessment
Assessment is by completion of six practical assessments graded 'Pass' to 'Distinciton' and one online multiple choice exam. Assessment of Functional Skills is by Exam.
On completion of this qualification, students may progress into employment or to the following C&G qualifications:
- C&G Level 3 Diploma in ICT Systems and Principles for IT Professionals
This qualification can provide the knowledge component part of the apprenticeship framework for IT and Telecoms Professionals.
Duration & Location
One year.
Fees
Students on a full-time course of 12.5 hours a week who are aged under 19 on 31 August are entitled to free tuition and no exam fees provided they are European Union Citizens.
Full time students will be charged a retake fee if they do not successfully pass the mandatory online test first time.
