Course Description
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS QUALIFICATION IS DUE TO CHANGE FOR STARTS IN SEPTEMBER 2010. WE ARE CURRENTLY WAITING FOR FURTHER INFORMATION FROM THE AWARDING BODY WHICH WILL BE POSTED HERE AS SOON AS IT HAS BEEN MADE AVAILABLE.
This scheme is aimed at Candidates who:
-are following Advanced Apprenticeship programmes
-who do not have access to an N/SVQ
-wish for career progression within the Electrotechnical Industry
This scheme is designed to contribute towards the knowledge and understanding for Electrotechnical NVQs at Levels 3 and is suitable for those wishing to work in design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of all forms of electrical installation in industrial, commercial and domestic environments.
Content
This follows a two year period of study on a day release basis.
Topic areas are as follows:
Unit 1-Working effectively and safely in an Electrotechnical environment.
Unit 2-Principles of Electrotechnology
Unit 3-Application of Health and Safety Electrical Principles
Unit 4-Installation Buildings and Structures
Course material will be presented in a variety of ways, e.g. formal lecture periods, workshop periods, practical and written assignments and project work.
Entry Requirements
Candidates must successfully complete a College-devised entry test.
Progression & Assessment
There will be four multi choice City and Guilds online examinations plus two written / practical assignments.
Progression
Successful completion of City & Guilds 2330 Level 2, enables the student to progress to City & Guilds 2330 Level 3 . These qualifications provide the underpinning knowledge for NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations.
Duration & Location
The course is offered as a day release or full time programme at Lincoln and Newark, and also on an evening basis at Newark.
