Course Description
Programme Aim
This foundation degree programme has been designed to integrate the characteristics of employer involvement (work-based learning); accessibility (delivered by local FE Colleges); progression (route to NTU undergraduate programme); flexibility (blended learning study away from the classroom); and partnership (a regional programme)
The (FdSc) in Construction Management programme is designed for those of you who wish to study at a Higher Education (degree) level but do not necessarily have the qualifications of those who enter Higher Education by the traditional route. The programme is open to those who may be returning to learning who have been in employment in the construction industry but have had a break from formal education. It is delivered by Lincoln College and validated by Nottingham Trent University.
You will aspire in the longer term to undertake a leadership role in the building construction process. The successful completion of a construction project requires careful co-ordination of many activities to ensure that it is finished on time and built within the budget, as well as being fit for purpose with the design vision carried through successfully. The Foundation Degree is a valuable qualification in it’s own right because it will equip you with knowledge and understanding plus skills, qualities and attributes required for a management role in the construction industry. Progression at a later stage is possible and fulfils the characteristic of flexibility and promotes life long learning.
The programme takes the knowledge of theory into practice through professional and transferable skills development appropriate for the industry. The skills development is linked to the tasks and attributes you will already be involved in at your place of employment. The programme has been submitted to the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) for accreditation.
- Provide you with the necessary knowledge and skills that will allow you to become a leader in the building construction industry.
- Equip you with the skills that will support your career and professional development.
- Provide you with the opportunity for lifelong learning
