Course Description
Why study this subject?
This one year course offers the opportunity to gain the nationally recognised qualification of GCSE Mathematics targetting grades A*, A or B. The course is suitable for mature students wanting to study mathematics at this level and who need this specific qualification to progress onto their chosen career. The standard GCSE Mathematics course studied in school is usually covered over at least two years, with 4 – 5 hours of teaching per week; this course covers the same topics in a fraction of that time and so the pace of the work is necessarily high.
Where can this subject lead me?
Students completing GCSE Mathematics at grade B or higher can progress to the traditional AS and A level Mathematics or to AS and A Level Use of Mathematics.
