Course Description
This is a programme designed for progression from the Level 2 Diploma in hairdressing VRQ/NVQ and the practising hairdresser or salon owner.
The programme comprises of specialised hairdressing techniques including:
- Monitor procedures to safely control work operations
- Promote additional products or services to clients
- Provide hairdressing consultation services
- Creatively cut hair using a combination of techniques
- Colour hair using a variety of techniques
- Provide colour correction service
- Creatively style and dress hair
- Creatively dress long hair
- Contribute to the planning and implementation of promotional activities
- Develop and enhance your creative hairdressing skills
You will be given the opportunity to attend trade shows and seminars as well as getting involved in competition work.
Supplier details and order forms for the uniform will be sent to students as part of the enrolment process.
Entry Requirements
Students must have completed the VRQ/NVQ Level 2 hairdressing course, have a 95% attendance rate, a satisfactory reference and completion of a skills test. Relevant practical experience will be taken into account.
Progression & Assessment
As a Level 3 student you will be required to use your new skills in your salon as part of the working day as a practising hairdresser, or as part of your work placement in a locally based salon. This will then prepare you for assessment within the college to enable you to achieve your qualification.
Progression
On completion of this programme, students may progress onto a Level 4 Management course or into teaching or assessing.
This qualification also leads to employment on Health Farms & Cruise Liners.
Duration & Location
Lincoln: 1 day per week over 1 year, part time or 15 hours per week, full time
Newark: 15 hours per week, full-time.
