Course description
This programme is only open to students who have achieved or are in the process of achieving a recognised qualification in hairdressing.
The Level 2 Award will provide basic skills in Barbering which will enable students to achieve units of credit towards a Barbering qualification.
All students taking the Level 2 Award in Barbering will be required to achieve the Award in Health & Safety Practice in the Salon as part of the Barbering programme as well as following the Level 2 Award in Cutting Men's Hair. Other areas of Barbering such as cutting facial hair, cutting patterns and drying hair will be taught as part of the programme but may not be assessed.
Entry requirements
Students who have already achieved a recognized hairdressing qualification equal to Level 2 or are enrolled on a Level 2 qualification with a minimum level of a VRQ or NVQ Level 1 qualification in Hairdressing.
All students must comply with Lincoln College salon regulations regarding the wearing of appropriate dress in the Hair and Beauty salons. The dress code for hair students is black tunic and trousers with black enclosed shoes.
As well as having a standard kit for hairdressing, you will be required to purchase a male head block for practicing head and facial cutting techniques. It is also recommended that you have thinning scissors, razor and a set of electrical clippers.
Progress & Assessment
All practical work will be assessed within a salon environment with written tests and/or assignments collated within a portfolio of evidence.
On successful completion of the programme students can progress to the Certificate in Barbering Techniques and the Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing.
