Course Description
The course provides an introduction to graphic design and is designed for people who have achieved at least GCSE standard in an art and design subject. It is intended to aid progress into higher education and prepare students for employment in art and design careers. This is done by drawing, exploring materials and making objects together with the underlying knowledge of how to develop ideas and concepts through to the finished design. You will be encouraged to develop your creative skills based on solid basic skills. You will also be introduced to contextual references which will help you to understand the history and development of Graphic Design. During the course you will produce a personal study which will be presented in both written and visual form.
Entry Requirements
Standard AS / A level entry requirements apply.
Progression & Assessment
Your work will be assessed regularly throughout the course and also through set exam pieces. 60% coursework, 40% examination.
This qualification could form the basis of progression to art and design courses in Higher Education or the Foundation Diploma in Art and Design. It will also contribute to the entry requirements for a wide range of none art and design Higher Education courses.
Duration & Location
One year for AS: a further one year for A2
Fees
You may need to contribute to some of your course materials and the cost of educational visits.
16-18
If you are a student aged 16 -18 years old there will be NO fees to pay. Once you have started an individual qualification you will not be liable for fees even if you turn 19 before the end.
19+
Adult students may have to pay some or all of their course fees.
