Course Description
Students will learn the skills necessary for employment in the Beauty Therapy profession.
The course will focus on the following:
- Working in the beauty related industries
- Health and Safety practice in the salon
- Promote products and services to clients
- Salon reception duties
- Provide facial skin care
- Provide eyelash and eyebrow treatments
- Carry out waxing services
- Provide manicure services
- Provide pedicure services
- Apply Makeup
- Provide and maintain nail enhancements
Additional qualifications may be available, subject to numbers, in Photographic Make-up and Body Art Design.
Entry Requirements
Students must be aged 16 or over. All candidates are required to have a keen interest in Beauty Therapy.
School leavers will require a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade D or above to include English and preferably a science. School leavers will require a good school report .
Selection is subject to a satisfactory interview
Progression & Assessment
All work is assessed by ongoing theory and practical assessments. Knowledge acquired for all units is tested on-line throughout the course. Theory and practical work is to be collated in a portfolio as evidence of knowledge.
Functional Skills: All students aged 16-19 will follow a functional skills programme of Maths, English or IT. Assessment will be via a portfolio of evidence and external tests.
There is no guarantee of progression to further levels of study without meeting the entry criteria for the course, including a clear disciplinary record and at least 95% attendance.
