Course Description
This qualification provides an understanding of the hairdressing industry and the skills and knowledge required to progress as a junior stylist or continue onto a Level 3 qualification.
Content
The programme focuses on units of study which include:
- Working in the hairdressing industry
- Follow Health and Safety
- Client consultation for hair services
- Shampoo and condition the hair and scalp
- Promote products and services to clients in the salon
- Cut women's hair
- Colour and lighten hair
- The art of dressing
- Create an image based on a theme within the hair and beauty sector
- Salon reception duties
Entry Requirements
GCSE grade C in English plus two further GCSE grades of C or above (one of which should be science or art) and a satisfactory reference.
OR
Completion of Level 1 Hairdressing, 95% attendance, satisfactory reference and completion of a skills test.
You will be requied to have personal hairdressing tools and a specific salon uniform. Details of these are provided during the enrolment process.
Progression & Assessment
You will be assessed through practical observation, oral questioning, projects, assignments, written tests and protfolio work to meet the requirements for each unit of the qualification. Assignments and practical work are graded 'Pass' to 'Distinction'.
All candidates will follow a functional skills programme in English or IT.
On completion of this programme, students may progress into employment or to the C&G Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing.
