Course Description
The Construction Craft Education and Training Programme in Painting & Decorating is a full-time course intended for those wishing to train to a high standard in Painting & Decorating.
Diploma Level 1 Units of training

Entry Requirements
Course members can access a progressive programme dependent upon their qualifications and practical aptitude. Potential students will need to complete a literacy and numeracy and a trade test. Successful applicants will be invited in for a taster/interview day which will include a practical test. Parents and carers are welcome to attend the interview session. Interview days will take place at various points in the year from springtime onwards.
Applicants successful at interviews/tests will be considered for a place on the course. Any offer of a place will be conditional on the production of documentary evidence of GCSE grades or equivalent before the course commences. Special consideration may be made if applicants show particular aptitude for the course.
Progression & Assessment
The main components of assessment are through the testing of practical skills and the assessment of job knowledge through written tests. The majority of assessment is internal; however the Diploma Awards require externally set tests to be taken. Assessment takes place within each element and unit of training throughout the programme. The College is committed to maintaining Records of Achievements and providing appropriate feedback through reviewing and action planning.
Progression:
Progression is the key factor and the Programme is designed to allow students to progress through several levels as the career opportunities expand. On completion of the Programme students may be able to progress to a Diploma Level 2 or gain employment in order to gain more training and experience whilst working towards a Diploma Level 2 Award and NVQ2.
Duration & Location
This is a full time 1 year programme allowing students to progress at a reasonable pace.
Fees
If you are under 19 on 31 August in the year when your programme begins and study more than 12.5 hours per week, you will be entitled to free tuition and no examination fee wherever you live provided you are a European Community National. Please ask our Guidance Services for details.
