Course Description
Retail is a large and fast growing industry, one that is to be found in every corner of the UK and across all parts of the world. This is truly a universal business, one that provides excellent career opportunities for everyone including those who have an interest in owning their own business.
An NVQ in retail enhances prospects, builds thorough undestanding and creates links between the evermore important theory and industry.
Content
Candidates must successfully complete a total of six units, including one mandatory unit: ‘Work effectively in your retail team’. Thereafter, candidates must achieve a further five units. At least four of these must be chosen from the following units at Level 2.
- Sales
- Stock management
- Product expertise
- Merchandising
- Visual merchandising
- Finance and administration
- Customer service
- Organisational effectiveness
The course is also available at Level 3 for those in a supervisory role. There are three pathways at Level 3, which are Sales Professionals, Visual Merchandising, and Management.
Entry Requirements
Candidates must be working within the retail industry, either in paid work or in the voluntary sector.
Progression & Assessment
Candidates will have access to a tutor who will support them throughout the programme. The tutor will agree a schedule of work that suits the individual in terms of their existing commitments and workload. Candidate will be required to prepare a portfolio of evidence that reflects their competence at performing the necessary skills assoicated with the qualification.
Duration & Location
This will depend on the level of the NVQ but typically can take up to 12 months.
Fees
The fee includes work place visits, observations, portfolio building, registration with the awarding body and guidance. Fees are payable at the beginning of the programme.
