Course Description
This is an entry level programme which will develop the skills required for a vocation within the sport profession. It is for school leavers and young people who need extra support with learning. A greater sense of independence and self-confidence will be achieved by building on skills and strengths.
Course Content
During the course students will investigate the various jobs that are available within the sport profession.
As well as participating in various sports and physical activities learners will study topics associated with sport such as nutrition, body systems and the principles of coaching. Learners may have the opportunity to undertake a leadership certificate during the course.
Alongside the vocational strand of the Foundation Sport course, learners will also study:
• Independent Living Skills which includes topics such as; Community Awareness, Money Management, Health & Safety, Travel Training and Cookery Skills.
• Personal Development; which includes topics such as Personal Presentation, Working with Others, Assertiveness, Communication and Careers.
• Basic Skills; Literacy, Numeracy and IT.
• Learners can also choose to participate in up to three different enrichment activities over the year.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements, although students should show an interest in sport as a vocation. All students are interviewed before acceptance onto the course.

Initially a one year programme, although learners can return for a second and third year if appropriate.
