Lincoln College hosts the next Business Women’s Link meeting – 15th February 2011

Lincoln College are pleased to be hosting the next Business Women’s Link (BWL) group meeting on 15th February 2011. Attendees will be welcomed with tea and cakes and given a presentation on how the College has helped other businesses in different ways including apprenticeships and specially tailored support.

BWL members will then get the chance to experience the student's training by enjoying a mini facial or manicure provided by the students in the training salon. Finally, they will have opportunity to dine in Sessions Restaurant (£7.50 for 3 courses) where students are prepared for careers in all areas of the hospitality industry.

Newark Business Awards – 25th January 2011

Now an annual event, Newark College sponsored the Newark Business Awards which took place on Tuesday 25th January at Kelham Hall. The awards were hosted by Melvyn Prior and very well attended. John Allen, Principal was delighted to present the Award for “Training and Staff Development” to winner Duncan and Toplis.

Lunch Hosted by Principal to Gather Local Employer Views – 23rd November 2010

On 23rd November 2010, John Allen Principal at Lincoln College hosted a lunch at the College’s Sessions Restaurant attended by College Staff, Governors and local employers. The purpose of the lunch was to gather local employers views on whether the College is meeting the needs of employers, and what it could do differently to support our local economy.

Ian Shaw, Chair of Governors opened the meeting by welcoming the guests, introducing the staff and Governors and giving some key facts about the College.

John Allen, Principal then spoke about the College’s commitment to supporting the local business community and how important it was to the College to gain their views.

Paul Deane, Vice Principal Planning and Funding and Carol Smith, Employer Engagement Manager gave examples of the type of work the Business Development Centre are currently undertaking to support local businesses.

Ian Sackree, Vice Principal Corporate Services spoke about the College in its wider context and how the College seeks to support the local community by sharing resources and supporting local events.

All agreed the Christmas lunch prepared by College students was excellent and the meeting was a success.

The meeting was attended by: Andrew Williams, Jacksons Building Centre; Brian Heward, Federation Small Businesses; Brian Carr, Castlet Ltd.; Steve Gelder, Gelder Group; Tony McArdle, Lincolnshire County Council; Tim Shaw, Hodgson Elkington LLP; Bob Dorrian, Lincoln City Football Club; Paul Taylor, Dynex Semiconductors; Herman Kok, Lindum Group; Peter Horner, Langleys Solicitors; Cllr Eddy Poll, Lincolnshire County Council.
 

Gainsborough Business Awards – 9th September 2010

On the 9th September 2010, Lincoln College were pleased to sponsor the Gainsborough Business person of the Year Award 2010 at the first ever Gainsborough Business Awards ceremony. Ian Sackree, Vice Principal Corporate Services presented the award which was won by Brian Bates of Eminox. Brian was nominated due to his outstanding contribution to the business over many years which has culminated in the company winning significant new business in South America.

Annual Employer Survey

Thank you to all our employers who completed and returned the Annual Employer Survey, 89% of you said you would refer Lincoln College to another employer for training purposes.  The results can be viewed below.

Employer Showcase: Recuitment and Progression Fayre

Lincoln College held it's annual Employer Showcase Recruitment and Progression Fayre on the 25th March 2010 when 18 employers exhibited enabling them to showcase their company and to discuss with students skills required for current and future job opportunties.  Of the employers attending 100% said they would recommend the event to a similar organisation and 87% rated the event overall as good or excellent and the remainder being satisfied.
