Students have been taking to the Colleges' running track to undertake a series of command tasks, run by the Army.

Corporal Rob Selby, Lance Corporal Vicki Brown and Physical Training Instructor (PTI) Antony Piccinelli encouraged the students to take part in these team exercises. One of which was called the Gun Run, students ran around the track clutching tyres, planks and barrels before placing the equipment back in the same previous layout.

Lance Corporal Vicki Brown commented: “The exercises are designed to encourage communication skills, team work and planning. It is a timed activity so it also teaches them to work under pressure and will hopefully give the students confidence to speak up.”

The Gun Run was both physical and mental; these command tasks would be used to assess those that are thinking of joining the Army. The Military representatives were also there to take any questions from those who might have an interest in joining and will be there next week as well.

The students enjoyed the activities saying that it was a bit of fun and helped them to bond with their fellow classmates.
