Engineering their future
Dynex Semiconductors, Siemens, British Sugar, Napier Turbochargers, Bifrangi, Moy Park, RPC, E2V and the Technical Apprenticeship Service showcased their organisations to the students - the future workforce of the industry.
Apprenticeships, work experience and careers information were key topics for the day in addition to finding out what it takes to get ahead in the industry from the very people that work in it.
Kevin Williams, Director of Construction and Engineering at Lincoln College, commented:
“This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to discuss what local engineering companies have to offer. It also gave then an insight into business needs, skills and the knowledge that employers are looking for, which will give our students a significant advantage in a competitive jobs market.”
Building on the success, a further event is planned for early 2013 with a view to bring together organisations with vacancies and students looking to take their next steps towards getting a career in the industry.
