The very first set to be announced on the new MONOPOLY: Lincoln board is revealed today. The set is made up of three of Lincoln’s finest educational institutions – Lincoln College, the University of Lincoln and Lincoln Minster School.

The board’s makers said they were “spoilt for choice” for public nominations from the world of education in Lincoln.

Vice Principal of Lincoln College, Ian Sackree commented: “We are delighted to have been chosen to represent the educational landscape of Lincoln. Lincoln College has been around for over 125 years, and we are proud to have educated a large portion of the county’s population”.

This Lincoln education set is one of NINE different themed city sets on the brand new customised board – which hits shop shelves, both online and in stores, on Thursday October 17th.  This date is announced for the first time today. On the same day all 22 of the property locations will be revealed, as well as the customised Chance and Community Chest cards and the other twists and turns on this unique customised board.

Peter Griffin, MONOPOLY Development Director at Winning Moves UK - who are producing the board under official license from MONOPOLY owners Hasbro – says: “We are keeping the vast majority of the board under our MONOPOLY hats until we launch the game.

A few weeks ago we announced the first location on the board – Lincolnshire YMCA on the Old Kent Road site – and we are announcing the identities of the first full set.

Lincoln is a centre of educational excellence and these three outstanding institutions are taking pride of place in the game.

We were spoilt for choice with nominations. More than 2,000 landmarks, streets or roads could potentially have appeared on the board. Realistically around 220 were in the running so many congratulations to the owners of this set. “

The board will be themed largely around sets – heritage, arts, sport, commerce, public parks, entertainment and other categories.

The MONOPOLY: Lincoln Edition will be available very extensively online from Thursday October 17th – as well as at these retailers across the city and county: Ruddocks, Smyths, Toys R Us, Waitrose, WH Smith, The Works and Waterstones.
