Lincoln College is delighted to announce a 96% A Level pass rate, with 13 individual subjects obtaining a 100% pass rate.

Students anxiously tore open their envelopes, in the company of friends and family, to find out their long awaited A Level results.

Amongst those celebrating was Lyam Todd, who secured four A grades at AS Level (Philosophy, Geography, Religious Studies and Critical Thinking) and will return to college in September to complete his A Levels. Lyam, who previously completed his GCSEs at Carres Grammar School, opted to come to college rather than stay at school:

“College is different to school in lots of ways. It’s a more relaxed, adult environment, where you are expected to work hard and apply yourself to get the results!”

“My tip for studying A Levels would be: get involved and work hard. Ask for support and help if you need it – the tutors are great.” Lyam hopes to go onto to study Philosophy at University after completing the second year of his A Levels.

2010 is the first year that A* has been awarded at A Level and John Drake was awarded A* in History, alongside 2 As in English and Philosophy and is now on his way to study English and Philosophy at York University:

“I’m very, very happy with my results,” he says, “I came to college to retake my A Levels and I’m so pleased I did as I’ve finally managed to achieve great results!”

Having been awarded BBC in her A Levels (Business, Law and History), Chelsey Cottrell now plans to take a year out travelling, before going to study Business at University.

“I’m delighted with my results,” says Chelsey, “all the hard work was definitely worth it! A particular highlight of studying here is all the different people you meet – it’s a really sociable place,” she says.

Many students were excited to progress onto universities, such as Cambridge, Exeter, Keele, Royal Holloway, Nottingham, York, Kent and many more.

Rebecca Jackson was delighted to have got into her first choice of Kent University to study Sociology. “I’m so happy with my three Bs,” she says, “I can hardly believe it!”

Heading to Exeter University to study Law is Luke Berry, following his fantastic results: “I got three As and two Bs – I’m absolutely elated,” says Luke. “I hope to have a career as a Military Barrister.”

Luke, who was previously home schooled, has thrived in the college environment - “The transition to become a full time college student was made really easy with the support of tutors. You are encouraged to be the best you can be.”

 “It’s been another great year for A Level results at Lincoln,” says Assistant Principal Phil Sayles, “congratulations to all students on their success.”
