Summer job of a lifetime

Students from Lincoln, Newark and Gainsborough College have been offered a fantastic opportunity to work at the Olympic and Paralympic games this summer. Over two hundred have applied for the Bridging the Gap scheme through G4S who are the provider of security services for the games. They are looking to recruit thousands and train them in security in roles such as x-ray operator to vehicle searcher and perimeter security to enable them to help the games run safely and securely. Upon passing the course, which will take place during half term, all students will get an interview and then if successful they will be trained up further depending on their role of choice for the event.

Bradley Hoare who studies Painting and Decorating said:

“I’m planning on going to London after college and get into the security industry, I enjoy a bit of sport and G4S is quite a big and well established firm to work for so it is a once in a lifetime opportunity”

The students will get paid for the work they do along with getting their accommodation, food and travel free too. The training will give them qualifications which could be of use to them later on in the future and they will get the chance of a lifetime to be able to be at the games and say that they helped out at the worlds largest event to make it safe and secure so that it can be successful and enjoyable for all participants, spectators and workers.
