Assessing your needs
We can assess the support needs of students who identify themselves or are referred by tutors. A large team of specialist staff support students with learning difficulties and disabilities
We can offer specialist advice, assessment and resources for students with learning difficulties and /or disabilities. We provide support, specialist equipment and adapted resources. We are also responsible for arranging exam concessions and extra time for students with a disability or health problems.
We aim to improve access to curriculum areas, to study skills support and to college services. Qualified and experienced staff deliver classroom support, 1:1 tuition and communications support.
Potential students are asked to give information about learning difficulty / physical disability on the college application form and all applications containing such information are copied and sent to the Assessment Officer. Sometimes a student will refer themselves to the Learning Support Team and sometimes tutors will contact the Learning Support Team if they feel that a student will need support if accepted on a course.
This pre-admission assessment is vital for students so that support needs can be assessed and put in place before a student comes to college and to meet the requirements of the DDA.
If you think you require support in your studies, please make sure you identify you requirements to a member of staff
