Child Care

If you are a student parent aged under 20 you can qualify for free childcare through the Care To Learn Scheme. Application forms are available from Student Services or from the Care To Learn website.

If you are a student parent aged 20 or over on 01/09/10 and receive a means tested benefit, or low income you may qualify for help towards all or part of your child care costs through our Child Care Support Fund. Please note, however, that applications should be made as soon as possible after 01/01/10 as support cannot be gauranteed due to limited funding.

If you are a Lone Parent you may be able to get help for the cost of childcare, books, equipment and travel through the New Deal For Lone Parents. You should speak to your NDLP Personal Adviser at your local Job Centre to see if you qualify. The College will only consider helping you with these costs through the Learner Support Fund if your NDLP Personal Adviser confirms that you do not qualify for the scheme.

For information about childcare in Lincolnshire try Lincolnshire Children’s Information Service’s website. Try Nottinghamshire Children’s Information Service’s website for information about childcare in Nottinghamshire. Also try Nottinghamshire Families Information Service

If you are employed you might be able to get help toward the cost of childcare if your employer is signed-up to the Childcare Choice voucher scheme. If your employer is not currently part of this scheme the website give details of how they can join.

As our childcare funds are limited we are not able to help everyone who would like this support. You might consider, therefore, looking for support from local and national charities. Try searching the Internet to see if you can find any other sources of support. If you do and you are able to access the support please let us know.

Help may also be available from HM Revenue and Customs through Child Tax Credits or Working Tax Credits.

You can get further information from Surestart. Its website, amongst other things, includes information on the scheme for providing free early education places for 3 and 4 year olds.
