The Access to University programme (Access to HE Diploma) is an intensive course for those aged 19 and over, especially for people who are returning to education.
It is specifically geared towards a graduate career, and prepares students to study at university level towards future employment in a range of healthcare-related careers.
The course aims to help students acquire the skills and knowledge needed to apply for various health / social care degrees, such as Adult Nursing, Paediatric Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, Midwifery, Paramedic Science or Health and Social Care.
Completion of the Access to Health Professions course allows students to gain direct entry to their chosen degree; successful students are able to gain places at UK-wide universities as well as with local providers the University of Lincoln and Bishop Grosseteste University.

Entry requirements
You will need Mathematics and English GCSE (minimum grade 4 or equivalent) or, if applying for Midwifery, a minimum of three GCSEs (minimum grade 4 or equivalent) prior to enrolling on the programme.
Some universities may accept Functional Skills Level 2 qualifications instead of GCSEs. If you possess a Level 2 equivalent and have written evidence that the university you intend to apply to accepts them as part of their entry requirements, you will be accepted onto the Access to University course.
Assessment & Progression
Assessment is a combination of written assessments and assignments.
Progression
Completion of this course could allow you direct entry into a Degree or Higher Education. CAVA Access to HE Diploma students will now benefit from a reduction of 8 UCAS points towards admission to most of University of Lincoln's courses. This reduction will be applied at the point of application to each CAVA-registered student.
