This course includes practical and theoretical elements of Plumbing, providing you with the underpinning skills and knowledge to succeed.
During the course, you will study: Safe Working Practices in Building Services Engineering; Communication with Others within Building Services Engineering; Environmental Protection Measures; Scientific Principles within Mechanical Engineering Services; Site Preparation and Pipework Fabrication Techniques for Domestic Plumbing and Heating Systems; Domestic Cold Water System Installation and Maintenance Techniques; Hot Water System Installation and Maintenance Techniques; Central Heating System Installation and Maintenance Techniques; Rainwater System Installation and Maintenance Techniques and Domestic Above Ground Drainage System Installation and Maintenance.Successful completion of the course can lead to full time employment within the construction industry or as a self-employed plumber, following the completion of a work based NVQ, or other options for further education such as a Advanced Apprenticeship.
You will need GCSE’s including English, Maths and Science (minimum Grade D - Grade C is preferred). You must also be employed for a minimum of 30 hours a week.
Assessment is a combination of practical observations within the workplace and online written assignments.
