The BSc (Hons) Sports Coaching, Development and Pedagogy course provides the opportunity for students that have completed a Foundation Degree/HND, preferably in Sports Coaching, to progress onto the final year of a BSc (Hons) Sports Coaching, Development and Pedagogy degree.

This course is aimed at students wishing to develop their vocational skills and specialist knowledge within the field of Sports Coaching. Graduates from this course will be well equipt to start careers within Sports Coaching, Sports Development and Teaching.

Study Details

You will study on the Lincoln College Campus for the full duration of the course, using our dedicated sports facilities and teaching areas.

FULL TIME
1 Year

Course contact hours are yet to be confirmed; however an average of 12-14 hours a week can be expected.

Whilst the majority of the sessions delivered at College will fall between Monday and Friday from 9am – 5pm, it is expected that students are available and willing to undertake activities in the evenings and at weekends, in line with the demands of being a professional sports coach or sports development officer.

It is also expected that students complete between 3 and 8 hrs of additional independent study per week in order to be successful on this programme.
Applicants are required to have obtained:
• 120 credits from Level 5 study in a related discipline

Plus
• GCSE English – Grade C/4 or above
• GCSE Maths – Grade C/4 or above

EU and International applicants

• NARIC confirmed equivalent of 120 Credits
• IELTS with an overall score of 6.0 and a minimum of 5.5 in each component. Equivalent English language qualifications are acceptable for applicants not requiring a Tier 4 student visa
Assessment

The assessment methods used throughout the programme include:

Written assignment, including essay
Report
Portfolio
Practical skills assessment
Oral assessment and presentation

The programme specification details the assessment strategy for each module, including the relevant task weightings.

Progression

The course is designed to prepare and aid learners for a career in the sports coaching, teaching and sports development industries. The students who achieve this BSc (Hons) programme will be eligible to be considered for an MA/MSc qualification in a related field or to further their teaching ambitions through PGCE study.

Sports kit - £130 (compulsory) ; DBS check - £44 (compulsory); Additional coaching courses (optional)- varying costs



Additional compulsory course costs will be paid for using the Career Degree Bursary. The scheme allows students to access the remainder of the bursary(up to a maximum value of £500 / £250) for additional optional courses, workshops, professional memberships and resources. There is no cash alternative. Students who wish to access opportunities in excess of the Career Degree Bursary may do so at full cost to themselves.
