This course includes practical and theoretical elements of Carpentry & Joinery, Brickwork, Plumbing, Plastering and Painting & Decorating. Providing you with the underpinning skills and knowledge to progress whilst studying topics at an appropriate level to begin. This programme will also offer you support, preparing you for the construction industry.
During the course, you will study: Health, Safety and Welfare in Construction; Construction Industry Topics; Maintaining and Use a variety of Hand Tools and more. Generally, you will have gained a good level of skill and the ability to interpret drawings, apply your developing practical skills.
You will need GCSEs in Mathematics and English (GCSE Level 3s are desirable). You will also be required to hold a successful interview at welcome a day. You will be required to provide a satisfactory reference from an employer or recent school/college report.
Assessment is a combination of practical tests and written examinations.
Successful completion of the Level 1 Certificate could lead onto a Level 2 Diploma in any of the trades. You will also be able to access potential careers including within the building trade.
Successfully completing this course would prepare you well for an apprenticeship and/or you could progress from the Level 1 onto the Diploma Level 2. You’ll need to decide which trade you’d like to progress into.
