Diploma for Residential Childcare Level 3

Zig Zag Underline

This qualification will be part of the new children’s homes regulations which will come into force in April 2015. It will replace the Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce (Social Care Pathway) as the required qualification for those working in children’s homes from April 2015. You will be working with children and young people in a variety of different residential care settings, such as respite care, foster care, children’s homes and secure units

All learners must be over 18 years old and be working in a residential childcare setting, for a minimum of 15 hours a week.  There are no formal entry requirements in English and maths for candidates undertaking this Diploma. However, candidates must have good verbal communication skills and have the potential and opportunity to gain evidence for the qualification in the work place

A variety of assessment methods are used, including direct observation; asking questions; examination of work products; witness testimonies; recognition of prior learning/experience; reflective accounts; simulation; professional discussion; assignments or written tests
