The Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC) is a qualification for professional bus, coach and lorry drivers. It has been introduced across Europe with the aim of improving road safety and maintaining high standards of driving.
The legislative requirement of 35 hours of Periodic training is required to acquire a DQC Driver Qualification Card to work Driving Vehicles 3.5T and above this is 7 hours training per session excluding negotiated breaks.

So D – for Bus/Coach PCV Drivers & C for Lorry LGV Drivers
Any newly awakened drivers need the 5 x7hr modules = 35 hrs periodic training
· That’s people going back into driving for a living or have the grandfather rights on their licence (before 1997)
Newly qualified drivers get the DCPC in with their licence upgrades or apprenticeship AKA the initial Driver CPC
Assessments take place during the day
