If you are good with practical work and have an eye for detail, electrical installations could be a great career for you. Electricians install and maintain the equipment needed for the safe and efficient use of electricity, including fitting and repairing electrical circuits and wiring.
Completion of this programme can lead to full-time employment as an electrician, following completion of work based learning (NVQ), or other options for further education such as a HNC qualification.
The programme consists of: health and safety in building services engineering; understand the fundamental principles and requirements of environmental technology systems; principles of electrical science; fault diagnosis and rectification; inspection, testing and commissioning; electrical systems design and career awareness in building services engineering.
You will need to have achieved the Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installations. You will also be required to attend an interview and provide a reference (from an employer or recent school/college report).
Assessment is a combination of practical tests and written examinations.
