If you want to pursue a career within the public services then this is an excellent place to start. This course will provide you with the underpinning skills and knowledge to develop your skills and understanding of public services, giving you a variety of opportunities. Successful completion of this course could allow you to progress in to a career in the Public Services e.g. Royal Navy, Royal Marines, The Army, Royal Air Force, Ambulance Service, Police Service, Prison Service, Customs and Exercise, Coastguards. During this course, you will explore theoretically and practically the following topics at an appropriate level: Leadership and Teamwork in the Public Services (Theory and Practical); Outdoor Expeditions (Theory and Practical); Citizenship, Diversity and the Public Services (Theory Unit); Government, Politics and the Public Services (Theory Unit); Land based Outdoor Adventurous Activities.
You will need 4 GCSEs at Grade C and above or equivalent, to include 3 from: Mathematics, English Language, PE and Science (E.g. Grade 4 and above for English Language and Maths). 5 GCSEs at grade A*-C and above are required for students wanting to study this qualification with other A Levels, ideally with an A or B grade in their chosen A/AS Level. You will be required to attend an interview and provide a reference (from an employer or recent school/college report) along with evidence of specific and sustained interest and motivation in the Public Services, and an ability to cope with a programme of physical activity.
Assessment is a combination of coursework, presentations and practical tests / observations and building up a portfolio of evidence.
