During this course you will explore theoretically and practically the following topics at an appropriate level to begin working in food and beverage service: Food Safety in Catering; Introduction to Employability in the Catering and Hospitality Industry; Health and Safety Awareness for Catering and Hospitality; Legislation in Food and Beverage Service; Food and Beverage Service Skills; Dealing with Payments and Bookings; Bar Service Skills; Hot Beverage Service Skills; Developing Skills for Employment in the Catering and Hospitality Industry; Principles of Customer Service; Principles of Beverage Product Knowledge; Legislation in Food and Beverage Service; Service of Hot Beverages; Handling Payments and Maintaining the Payment Point; and Menu Knowledge and Design.
You will need 4 GCSE's at Grade D and above or equivalent, to include Mathematics and English Language (minimum Grade 3). You will also be required to pass an entry test and demonstrate a sustained commitment to succeed. You will be required to attend an interview and provide a reference (from an employer or recent school/college report).
Assessment is a combination of practical assessments, assignments and short answer tests.
