FdSc Sports Therapy (Full-Time)

The FdSc Sports Therapy programme aims to provide students with the skills required for a career in sports therapy.

The FdSc Sports Therapy is a modularised programme that will involve participation in a work-based, on-site clinic and vocational learning activities, alongside the study of a range of underpinning theory related to Sports Therapy.

Students will have the opportunity to gain the transferable skills necessary to be effective at work, including communication, team work, problem solving, and the use of Information Technology. The theoretical and practical techniques meet the National Occupational Standards for Sports Therapy.

The FdSc Sports Therapy offers additional vocational qualifications alongside the main qualification. The following courses / qualifications may be available for selection:

  • Level 3 Certificate in Sports Massage
  • Level 4 Diploma in Sports Therapy
  • Additional industry-relevant qualifications may be offered

Study Details

Students will study on the Lincoln College Campus for the full duration of the course. Full-time, two years. Two-three days per week. Course contact hours are to be confirmed.

Whilst the sessions delivered at College will typically fall between Monday and Friday from 9am – 5pm, it is expected that students will complete the online study, in addition to the independent study, outside of these times. Students should also make themselves available to complete work experience hours outside of these times.

Many of the opportunities offered through the college will require commitment during evenings and weekends.

The Sports and Occupation Injury Clinic is open to all staff and students across the campus during term time and is managed by our HE Sports Therapy degree students and overseen by a clinical member of staff. The clinic provides advice, sports therapy treatment and exercise rehabilitation to sporting, occupational and lifestyle injuries and conditions.

How to Apply

This course is validated by the Bishop Grosseteste University. The validating institution is responsible for awarding the qualification at the end of the programme. Students on validated courses are OfS registered, funded and taught at Lincoln College and it is the responsibility of the College to manage all aspects of this provision. The validating institution maintains an oversight of the programme throughout the academic year and must be satisfied that students are being taught in line with the required academic standards of the awarding institution. A minimum of 48 UCAS Tariff points from:

  • GCE A and AS Levels with at least one subject at A Level 
  • BTEC National (Diploma or Extended Diploma) in a relevant subject
  • Access to HE Diploma
  • T Levels
  • Scottish Higher/Advanced Higher with at least one subject at Advanced Higher

Plus

  • GCSE English – Grade C/4 or above

*For mature applicants, some experience may be taken in lieu of A Levels/BTECs

EU and International Applicants

  • ENIC confirmed equivalent of 48 UCAS points

  • IELTS with an overall score of 6.0 and a minimum of 5.5 in each component. Equivalent English language qualifications are acceptable for applicants not requiring a Tier 4 student visa

Other Entry Requirements

Applicants will need to undertake a DBS criminal record check to study on this programme. This can be paid for using the Career Degree Bursary. Learn more about the DBS Check.

  • Written assessments

 

Progression

On successful completion of FdSc, graduates may apply to progress onto the BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy (Top Up) course at Lincoln College or seek careers in sport therapy.

Per Academic Year

  • Home Students - £8,000
  • International Students - £9,500

Tuition fees will remain unchanged for the duration of a student’s continuous enrolment.
 

Additional Course Costs

  • Sports kit - £130 (compulsory)
  • DBS check - £48.20 (compulsory)
  • Additional coaching courses (optional) - varying costs

Additional compulsory course costs can be paid for using the Career Degree Bursary. The scheme allows students to access the bursary (up to a maximum value of £500 for full-time or £250 part-time students) for additional optional courses, workshops, professional memberships and resources. There is no cash alternative. Students who wish to access opportunities in excess of the Career Degree Bursary may do so at full cost to themselves.
