This course will provide you with the skills required for a career in sports therapy. The FdSc Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation is a modularised programme that will involve participation in a work-based, on-site clinic and vocational learning activities, alongside the study of a range of underpinning theory related to Sports Therapy. Students will gain the transferable skills necessary to be effective at work, including communication, team work, problem solving, and the use of Information Technology. The theoretical and practical techniques meet the National Occupational Standards for Sports Therapy.

The FdSc Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation offers additional vocational qualifications alongside the main qualification. The following courses / qualifications may be available for selection:
Level 3 Certificate in Sports Massage
Level 4 Diploma in Sports Therapy
Lubas Medical - First Aid for Sport and Exercise Level 1
Lubas Medical - First Aid for Sport and Exercise Level 2
Additional industry-relevant qualifications may be offered

Study Details

You will study on the Lincoln College Campus for the full duration of the course.

Full Time - 2 Years; Course contact hours are to be confirmed.


Whilst the sessions delivered at College will typically fall between Monday and Friday from 9am – 5pm, it is expected that students will complete the online study, in addition to the independent study, outside of these times. Students should also make themselves available to complete work experience hours outside of these times. Many of the opportunities offered through the college will require commitment during evenings and weekends.
A minimum of 64 UCAS Tariff points from the following:

BTEC National (Diploma or Extended Diploma) in a relevant subject
GCE A and AS Levels with at least one subject at A Level
Scottish Higher/Advanced Higher with at least one subject at Advanced Higher

For mature applicants some experience may be taken in lieu of qualifications that carry UCAS Tariff points.

GCSE English Language- Grade 4/C or above
GCSE Maths - Grade 4/C or above
(Level 2 Functional Skills is not taken as an equivalent)

EU and International applicants

NARIC confirmed equivalent of 64 UCAS Tariff points
IELTS with an overall score of 6.0 and a minimum of 5.5 in each component

Equivalent English language qualifications are acceptable for applicants not requiring a Tier 4 student visa
There are typically 2-3 assessment tasks per module delivered. The assessment methods used throughout the programme include:

Practical assessments
Written examinations
Coursework portfolios
Written assessments

Tuition fees will remain unchanged for the duration of a student’s continuous enrolment.


Additional compulsory course costs will be paid for using the Career Degree Bursary. The scheme allows students to access the remainder of the bursary (up to a maximum value of £500 / £250) for additional optional courses, workshops, professional memberships and resources. There is no cash alternative. Students who wish to access opportunities in excess of the Career Degree Bursary may do so at full cost to themselves.

This course is validated by Bishop Grosseteste University. The validating institution is responsible for awarding the qualification at the end of the programme. Students on validated courses are OfS registered, funded and taught at Lincoln College and it is the responsibility of the College to manage all aspects of this provision.
