GCE A Level in Sociology Level 3

Sociology is the study of people within society; giving you the opportunity to attempt to understand how society works. Within this course you will study social groups and systems whilst gaining a deeper understanding of the world around you, investigating social issues that are often relevant to your own experiences. Progression from this course includes studying Sociology or inter-related courses at Higher Education level or careers in: national and local government, social work, nursing, police and social research. Over the duration of this course, you will study: Socialisation, Culture & Identity; Researching & Understanding Social Inequalities and Debates in Contemporary Society.

This is the second year of a two year course. To join this course, you must have completed and passed AS Sociology. Please contact the A-Level department to discuss further.

You will need 5 GCSEs (minimum grade C or equivalent), to include English (minimum grade B/5 or equivalent).

Assessment is by written examinations.
