The HND Electrical and Electronic Engineering programme is a vocational qualification that is designed to offer students practical experience in the typical tasks and requirements of engineering professionals and the underpinning academic knowledge.
This nationally recognised qualification is suitable for those currently working in the electrical/ electronic engineering profession or those seeking employment.
This course will complement their ability to find solutions to engineering problems using developed technology and apply skills to a broad range of industrial areas. This means that they’ll be able to apply their skills to a broad range of industrial areas, such as design, development, manufacturing, testing, maintenance and operation of electrical or electronic equipment.

Students will study on the Lincoln College Campus for the full durations of the course, using our dedicated teaching areas. Full-time, one year. Two - three days per week.
Whilst the teaching sessions delivered at College will fall between Monday and Friday from 9am – 7pm, it is expected that students will only attend up to three days.
Students should also make themselves available to complete additional workshop classes, for which PPE is required, to enhance their employability. Students are encouraged to find part-time employment within the sector.

How to Apply
Applications for this course are for 2023 entry only.
This course is validated by Pearson. The validating institution is responsible for awarding the qualification at the end of the programme. Students on validated courses are OfS registered, funded and taught at Lincoln College and it is the responsibility of the College to manage all aspects of this provision. The validating institution maintains an oversight of the programme throughout the academic year and must be satisfied that students are being taught in line with the required academic standards of the awarding institution. Applicants are required to have:
- HNC Qualification in Electrical and Electronic Engineering
- Completion of RQF HNC in Electrical and Electronic Engineering
- GCSE English – Grade C/4 or above
- GCSE Maths – Grade C/4 or above
EU and International Applicants
IELTS with an overall score of 6.0 and a minimum of 5.5 in each component. Equivalent English language qualifications are acceptable for applicants not requiring a Tier 4 student visa
The assessment methods typically used throughout the programme include:
- Practical work
- Electronic simulations
- Written assignments
HNC and HND qualifications are widely recognised in their own right and can provide students with the skills required for employment in a range of associated professions. On successful completion of the course students may top up to degree level at another higher education institution.

Additional compulsory course costs can be paid for using the Career Degree Bursary. The scheme allows students to access the bursary (up to a maximum value of £500 for full-time or £250 part-time students) for additional optional courses, workshops, professional memberships and resources. There is no cash alternative. Students who wish to access opportunities in excess of the Career Degree Bursary may do so at full cost to themselves.
