Learn violin making skills in a sociable, friendly atmosphere
The course is based in the workshops of the internationally known Newark School of Violin Making. It provides an opportunity to learn the basic techniques and processes involved in making your first violin.
It is the perfect introduction for anyone who wishes to build up specialist knowledge and skills while working at their own pace, either with a view to planning a career in the lutherie trade or just to develop a hobby and make their own instrument. On the course students will gain practical experience in everything from violin design to methods of construction, use of tools and varnishing techniques. Students keep a written record that documents all the stages of their work. If your aim is to complete a finished violin in the year this will involve a considerable amount of extra time in addition to classes.
There are no qualifications required for this course. This course is only available to learners aged 19+
