The course focuses on key aspects of the English Legal System including; the creation of laws, Legal Personnel, European Union, Criminal and Taught Law, Murder, Manslaughter and Involuntary Manslaughter.  There will be a variety of teaching methods used plus guest speakers, class debates, trips and visits to the local courts.  You will keep up to date with any changes in the Law, take an active part in class debates, independently research elements linked to your coursework, produce typed up criteria and present information to the class.



Course Duration

1st year-obtain the BTEC Certificate (equivalent to 1 AS Level)

2nd year-obtain the BTEC Subsidiary Diploma (equivalent to 1 A Level)



Career Progression

The course offers a good basis for a varied range of courses and careers.  You will develop a range of transferable skills which you will use to help resolve complex legal scenarios.  The course will enable you to study Law at a higher level (HND or Degree) and an excellent opportunity to progress into careers such as the Police, Probation Service and Court System.

You will need 5 GCSEs (minimum grade 4 or equivalent), to include GCSE Mathematics (minimum grade 4 or equivalent) and English Literature (minimum grade 5 or equivalent).

Assessment is by written examinations.
