Made in Gainsborough

Made in Gainsborough at Gainsborough College is working with a wide range of top engineering firms to provide secure and lucrative careers for people in the town - in the quest for Engineering Excellence.

Watch a video overview here:

AMP Rose, Eminox, Wefco, Regal, Trepko, Clean Tech, A Schulman and Hooton Engineering are all partners with the College at the Made in Gainsborough Centre of Excellence.

These employers are struggling to find highly skilled, productive and work-ready people to join the engineering industry in Gainsborough.

Together we have created an exciting two-to-three year apprenticeship programme that is open to anyone over the age of 16.

Successful candidates will be employed by one of these firms from the outset, earning above the average apprenticeship wage and working towards a Level 3 Apprenticeship.

In year one apprentices will develop their general engineering knowledge, predominantly at Gainsborough College in an environment that reflects real-life industry settings.

One day a week will be spent with their employer, either at college or in the workplace. This year is focused on getting apprentices career-ready, so they can safely transition into their company workshops.

In year two the model reverses and apprentices spend four days a week with their engineering employer and one-day a week at college.

At the end of the training programme an independent assessment will take place and those who pass will secure regular jobs on great salaries with their firms.

What are the benefits of choosing Made in Gainsborough?

  • Secure a job: Whether you’re a school leaver or in between jobs at the moment, this programme ensures you will secure employment while you upskill.
  • Start earning now: As soon as you begin your apprenticeship you will start earning money while you learn and all of our employers have committed to paying above the apprenticeship minimum wage.
  • Build a secure career: There are critical skills gaps in the engineering sector in Gainsborough. This opportunity will lead to a secure and lucrative career.
  • Alternative to university: Engineering firms want work-ready, skilled people. Our firms are prepared to invest in your future and train you up to level 5. So you can be as qualified as a graduate but have earned a lot more
