Skills for Construction - Lincoln

Zig Zag Underline

This is an Entry Level to Level 1 programme, which will help learners to gain knowledge and skills in all three trades including Bricklaying, Carpentry and Painting and Decorating. Participants will learn to work as part of a team, develop independence, grow in confidence and self-esteem and make a positive contribution to the college as a business. Participants will have Individual Learning Plans with goals and targets to achieve the relevant qualifications.

Tasks include:

• Building brick walls and other relevant projects

• Researching and building small wooden projects using carpentry skills

• Developing painting and decorating skills ready to use around college and externally

• Complete external work experience

There are no formal entry requirements needed. However, the right candidate should have a desire to progress, a strong interest in Construction and a willingness to learn.

Progress is assessed by observation of practical and personal skills and a written portfolio of evidence.

Progression

This course offers learners support with their studies and the curriculum is geared to get learners to progress their independent living skills and develop themselves in ways which will assist them to make the transition onto mainstream studies or supported employment.
