Apprenticeships

An apprenticeship is on-the-job training with professional technical training built in. We will work closely with you to ensure the 'apprenticeship framework' suits the individual's role and your needs.

The benefits of apprenticeships are well documented and proven. They increase loyalty and job satisfaction, up-skill your workforce, increase your productivity and generate innovation.

They're a great way to bring new talent to your organisation, but a popular misconception is that's all they're good for. Apprenticeships are also a great way to develop your existing talent to the very highest level in a really cost effective way.

This might mean developing a trades-person to be a master-trades-person, but it also means taking dedicated staff through the management ranks through to director, managing director and even CEO level through higher and degree-level leadership and management apprenticeships.

This utilisation of apprenticeship training is hugely underutilised and a missed opportunity in terms of effective workforce and succession planning. We can help you tap into this potential.

Quick Guide to Apprenticeships

There are different levels of apprenticeships; Intermediate (equivalent of 5 A*-C GCSEs). Advanced (equivalent of 2 A-Levels), Higher (equivalent of a foundation degree), and Degree (equivalent of a full Bachelor's or Master's degree).

Your commitments as an employer:

  • You must pay the Apprentice National Minimum Wages of £3.40 per hour
  • Offer a minimum 12-month contract (30-40 hours per week)
  • Support college attendance, if requried, on a day/block release basis

Funding:

You may get a grant of £1,500 per apprenticeship (for up to five apprentices) if:

  • You have less than 50 employees
  • Your apprentice is aged between 16 and 24
  • You have not had an apprentice in the last 12 months

Training Fees:

  • Apprentices aged 16-18 are fully funded by the Government
  • Apprentices aged 19+ fees are set by training providers and co-funded by the Government
