Air & Defence students present RAF100 charity bike ride challenge

June 12 2018

Students from Lincoln College promoted their plan of action to a panel of RAF personnel and Lincoln College staff members.

Learners from the Air & Defence Career College were tasked by the College to organise a charity event as part of their Career Colleges project work.

During the presentation the group detailed their plans to undertake a 40 mile cycle, passing various RAF heritage sites, in order to raise money for the RAF100 appeal.

Air & Defence Lecturer, Lizzie Corbett said: “As a group, the students have developed their teamwork and communications skills in order to organise the 40 mile cycle event in aid of the RAF100 celebrations.

“Some of the students who have high aspirations to join the Royal Air Force as Commissioned Officers took on the leadership roles to enable them to practice their employability skills for the future.”

Student Ollie Arnot said: “As Head of Marketing and Advertising for the project I’ve increased my communication skills dramatically over the past month.

I feel the past year I’ve spent studying at the Air & Defence Career College has also made me much more confident and I look forward to using these skills in my future career.”

The students originally planned to cycle the Tiger Moth Trail – part of Lincoln’s 100 Voices. However after performing a risk assessment, they decided to plan their own route.

The bike ride will take place on Tuesday 19th June.

You can find out more and sponsor the learners on their JustGiving page here.
